Bunny's room

A while back Bunny's room was featured on the design blog Apartment Therapy.  This was quite a thrill, as design junky, I love that blog.  You can see the write up here.  More photos here.  In progress photos here.

I designed the room pre-baby so I really had no idea what I was doing.  I still love the room, but it's changed quite a bit.  Living (mostly) alone, the crib moved quickly into our bedroom.  The very idea of walking ten feet to the crib was daunting and overwhelming in the early days of newborn chaos.  Then, much to my chagrin, the changing station moved downstairs into the living area. Practical, but not glorious.

What worked great?  The art, for one.  She loves looking at the pictures and they make me happy.  Also, the throw pillows on the floor are fun.  I spend a lot of time sitting on the floor and they make it comfortable.  Finally, the IKEA Expedit system is great.  It holds clothes now, but it will be a great bookshelf or toy chest when she gets older.  Actually, IKEA everything worked great--the crib, the cheapest of their crib line (Sniglar), lived up to the high safety reviews. I love the simple lines and low impact footprint.  I also like our Craig's list bureau changing station.  Everything is handy, and someday it will hold her clothes.  I don't love it in our living room, but the mid century modern vibe makes it less horrible.  Kind of.

Realty met design.  Reality won.
